Learn the dark side of design: the client.
This workshop is addressed to young designers who are finishing or have just completed their studies, and are preparing to swim in the deep: participants may have already worked as freelancers or in a team setting; they may have already earned money from their work, or none of the above.
At this workshop, you will encounter the dark side of design: the client.
Badly composed briefs, impossible delivery deadlines, non-existent budgets and strange characters: over three days, together we will experience actual work conditions, with coworkers and competitors, specs and deliverables, from the first meet-and-greet to the final pitch.
Leaving this workshop, in addition to the first project that your newly established team/company will have completed, you will have learned both complex work methodologies for creative professions (agile) and simple tricks of the trade (always pay attention to the silent one), which will bring you closer to your goal: living off of the profession you live, by picking your own clients!
Required participant skills Participants must be seniors or graduates of Graphic Design schools and be competent in the use of the English language as required in a professional environment.
Equipment Laptop with installed Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign (preferably CS version or later), depending on the participants’ skills. Plain notepad and pencil or pen
Ad Axem creates digital products, provides UX design services and organises industry events and workshops. We work across business, technical, visual and marketing levels, to ensure that the final product experience does not degrade because of politics, budgets and strong personalities. We think hard and play even harder, not only from a design perspective, but on project management and engineering aspects, mitigating risk for you (and us).
